If you haven’t heard, one of our incredible corporate sponsors stepped up in May to offer a match of up to $5,000 in donations to The Lost & Found Association. Johnson Feed Inc. has been gracious enough to commit this match and help our organization transform our resilience programs for the upcoming 2018-2019 academic year. Through this match goal, Lost & Found is able to double any donation we receive this summer and further our work with local chapters at USD and SDSU.

This is where you come in: we’re only $1,750 away from our match goal of $5,000! You can make the difference and offer an assist to our student leaders who are leading efforts to make both Vermillion and Brookings more resilient communities.

Association President Erik Muckey explains the context behind the match:

“Lost & Found achieves its mission of building communities and people resilient to suicide through the work of student-led chapters and counseling professionals on college campuses. The Johnson Feed match program helps cover the costs of delivering chapter resilience modules at USD and SDSU, as well as a campus-wide mental health needs assessment at SDSU.

“Resilience modules are learning sessions through which students learn how to develop protective factors against suicide. Modules help students understand personal strengths and values, build inclusive environments, actively listen and express personal needs, and regulate emotions through mindfulness. At the same time, Lost & Found is working with leadership at the SDSU Counseling Center to assess student mental health needs at SDSU. Both programs will help students get access to the mental health tools and community they need to live happy, healthy lives, both today and in the future.

“We’re excited by the possibilities this work holds at a time when suicide among young adults in the United States is at a 30-year high. We’re also excited by the support of our community partners, especially Johnson Feed, in making this a reality.

“At the same time, we know we can’t stop here! We thrive through the support of community members, and today, we ask for your help and support in our work.

“Can you help us make the difference in Vermillion, Brookings, and beyond?”
